RH1 (90-D-1001),delivered to Dublin Bus' Phibsboro Garage in March 1990,was delivered in a time of D's,DF's,KD's,KC's, in the fleet and was the most modern Dublin Bus of the time. She was also the first in what was to be a large fleet of Olimpians, both Leyland and Volvo, that would amount to 640 Veichles over a 9 Year Period. The Olimpians would gain widespread approval from Passengers,Drivers,Management and Enthusiasts alike,in 3 guises (RH1-175, RA176-325, RV326-640)

RH1 was to last in service until March 2001,when it joined the Broadstone Training Fleet as a "Cash Training and Handeling Bus",mostly appearing on the 10,37&39,with Fellow RH31&32,being displaced from Phibsboro with AV's from the 139-146 group.RH1 is seen in these photos in Broadstone in March 30th 2005,at which point it was still listed as being in use, though by now the training fleet was being scaled down.

The Upstairs of RH1,as seen on March 30th 2005.At this point Dublin Bus was still using a large fleet of RH's in service, and due to RH1's misuse it was stripped of some internal fittings,no doubt for Other Training School buses and Phibsboro's large RH Fleet just next door.

The Downstairs.RH1 was tipped to go to the TMSI and into Private Ownership at this point, and as a result many of her downstairs fittings were still in place. However the Floor, both upstairs and downstairs, was poorly,a problem which has affected several Olimpians in the past.

RH1's cab area.At this point compared to The newer RA and RV's many of the RH's internal fittings were slightly bygone.

In Late 2005,Dublin Bus sold many of it's RH's from the 1991 and several from the 1992 batch to Ensign Bus in the UK.Rather surprisingly RH1 was among them, and she was sent to Phibsboro Garage to be prepped for onward movement to the UK.She left in December 2005 for the UK.Though Phibsboro had lost the Olimpian Firstbuild,it turned out to be an irony,in that the last build Olimpian,RV640,transferred to Phibsboro from Summerhill in Late June 2006.

However,as we will see in Part 2 (click here),RH1 did not idle at Ensignbus For Long...........
